We are pleased to announce that the Canada and Bermuda territory has updated its Junior Soldier Pledge. The current pledge has been in existence since the early 70's.
In re-writing this pledge we have considered the diversity of The Salvation Army in Canada and Bermuda, the language of our young people, the changes in family structure, the need to provide our young people with rationale, and a desire to stay true to our roots. The pledge, now called "The Junior Soldier Promise" has received input from across the territory and cabinet has approved the following:
I have asked God to forgive my sins. By faith I believe, that through Jesus Christ, I am now his child. I belong to him and will trust him with my life. I will pray, read my Bible, and worship with other Christians so that my relationship with God will grow. With the help of the Holy spirit, I will lead a life that is pleasing to God in what I think, say and do. I will not participate in activities that will harm me, including drinking alcohol, smoking, taking harmful drugs or gambling. I will tell others about God's love for them and help those in need.
