The Hospitality Team is seeking donations to prepare Welcome Bags for those attending the upcoming Olympics and Paralympics. Our goal is to prepare 25,000 Welcome bags and an additional 3,000 Care bags to be given to the homeless on the streets of Vancouver. It is a big project and you can help by donating the following items over the course of this spring and summer. Come September we’ll assemble the bags and store them for distribution next February and March.



Shipping instructions:
*When preparing your cartons of items clearly indicate the exact contents on an exterior label.
Make sure the label says, “GIFT”.
*It is preferred that you gather and ship items by the month indicated on the chart, if at all possible.

Size of Items:
Some items can be bought in bulk and separated into smaller units – pencils, hand wipes, mini note pads, etc.

Other some items must be procured in smaller travel size units – shampoo, soap, sunscreen, lotion, Kleenex, band-aids, toothpaste, etc. Please do not send large sized items.

Gloves and socks need to be in adult sizes.

*Scarves are a special item for all the knitters out there. Patterns can be requested by e-mailing morethangoldhospitality@gmail.com. For those that knit without a pattern, we ask that the scarves be one solid color (preferably not deep purple), 5” wide and 5-6’ long. Any pattern can be used. 4” tassels in the More Than Gold colors (deep purple, red, blue, green, yellow/gold) can be added to both ends of the scarf; or, send the scarf in without the tassels and will add them!

Our estimate for each bag’s cost/value is $10. If your church or group would find it more convenient to send funds for a certain number of bags, rather than actual items, we would gladly receive those funds. (Cheques made out to More Than Gold, reference “Hospitality Kits” please.)
