Pursuing Spiritual Transformation Series
Gifts: The Joy of Serving God
By John Ortberg, Laurie Pederson, Judson Poling
Willow Creek Resources
ISBN: 0310220777

This study focuses on growing your faith through using your spiritual gifts and having a servant heart. Do you have a passion to be used by God? This study will guide you and fellow group members to find your unique place in the body of Christ and help teach you how to surmount obstacles that may keep you from thriving. There is joy in serving with others - doing together what you cannot do alone. There is vitality in abiding in Christ, that grows as you give.

Love Your City

Love [Your City] is based on the generosity of God spilling out of our lives, and out of our churches into the lives of the people in our communities. The method we’re using is called “servant evangelism” which is offering people free gifts or services to show God’s love in a practical way - no strings attached!

Spiritual Gifts Assessment

God's Family First

To find a spiritual gifts assessment you can do yourself, here is a good one from

Lifeway: Biblical Solutions for Life.

www.lifeway.com/lwc/files/lwcf_wmn_ spiritualgifts_survey.pdf

(If you have trouble with this link, simply go through www.lifeway.com and search for “spiritual gifts”.

Then open the article called “Discovering and Using Our Spiritual Gifts” where you will find this download called “Spiritual Gifts Survey”.)

If you’d rather buy a paper copy of this survey (@ $1.75 each), contact Lifeway’s Canadian offices by calling 1-866-541-3179 or by e-mail at: lifeway@rgm.ca

Random Acts of Kindness

God's Family First

- Fast for one meal a week and donate the money you would have spent to The Salvation Army Partners in Mission Appeal (formerly Self-Denial).

-Do good anonymously! Donate money to send a child to camp; build something for your church to use; rake your neighbour’s lawn; fill up your spouse’s gas tank; do a household chore without being asked.

-Use your crafting skills for charity! Knit a “chemo cap” for a cancer patient or a “preemie hat” for premature babies. Find out more through www.lionbrand.com and click on “Charity Connection” where you’ll find free patterns. www.knitforkids.org offers patterns and ways to help knit and crochet sweaters for refugee children around the world. Contact: knitforkids@guideposts.org with any questions.

-Gather items to donate emergency and chronic care kits through the Mennonite Central Committee. The website lists all the types of kits needed. Go to: mcc.org/kits

-Become a Community Care Ministries worker through The Salvation Army and learn how to visit people in hospital and nursing homes and bring light and hope into their lives. Ask your corps officer for more information.
